Same here dave dude… considering that you unlock abilities and access to the safe house, unless you intend to finish the game in one sitting, this sucks.
You can change your name by editing the Steam_api.ini file using note pad or Something like that.
Make sure to save a copy of that ini file before changing anything.

Only run game as administrator. Definately worked for me. I think it is the solution for all skidrow games. For changing your name on the lobby, you can edit the Steam_api.ini file and look for the actual user name in the file and change it to whatever you want!

For those of you who don’t know why your game wont save or keep your configuration settings such as your mouse sensitivity and graphics settings, simply follow these 10 steps to get your game working fine.

@Shariq: I have also a GTX660 3gb EVGA and a very old CPU (i5 first generation with 2.67 Ghz). But the game is running without lags. Of course i must change the video settings to adapt them to a low performance PC. Check the NVIDIA GeForce Experience Tool. This will show you the optimal settings for your system. it is not possible to run such a powerfull game with your GPU in the super high settings.

expect it to work otherwise? I meen, you’re running a cracked game,
wich is unregistered, with no account imput (unless you played previous
black opses, but still, this one is not registered if you’re playing the one
you got here so.. yea) and you’re expecting the server to just let you
do a match pronto whenever you like? If you thought it’s gonna be that
easy, then clearly you didn’t do this (cracking) long.
Or you could just grab nosteam’s zombies (and multi, at least that’s what
i heard) patch; should be up already by now…
But don’t just go demanding multi and everything else on a game that
basically an unoficial cracked version of the game you saw reviews on
youtube about. Cuz it’s not the same game. This one was only made to
handle single player and that’s it. If it works on multi too, good for you.

I figured this shit out yesterday by accident, so please spread the word! The problem lies in the shortcut, if you right click the black ops 3 shortcut look in properties, you should see your target is set to your black ops folder, then under that you may notice it says start in: C;/Windows/System32 or some bullshit, THATS your prob, change the start in to “”C:\Games\Call of Duty – Black Ops 3” or whatever directory your shit is installed in. Now, since I just helped out 6 billion people and have yet to see anyone else come up with this solution, I NEED HELP!!! this local host error bullshit is pissin me off beyond all belief, if someone out there has a solution FUCKING POST THE ShIT! if not, lets collectively work on that please for fuck sakes! 2 major issues people are having is the damn one I just solved and that horrible cannot connect to local host shit!
You need to relax
Besides, there’s an even easier fix to that problem. Just delete the desktop shortcut
in the first place and then go to the game folder, find the game exe and send shortcut
to the desktop. While you’re at it also set the game to run in admin mode in properties.

If you want to change your username go to the game file (if unchanged it should go to C:\Program Files\Call of Duty Black Ops III), then open the steam_api file, find UserName and change it to whatever username you want. :)

@Edaad I used the google docs downloads and it worked fine. The torrent probably works fine, it’s just a very slow download.

@Oedy i dont think it really matters witch order but i just installed the 1,2,3 updates then the awakening dlc and then the eclipse dlc witch comes with all updates it says i just did the updates cuz i did it all in order before i i looked at the eclipse NFO lol, but it worked fine for me i got all fore zombie maps and mp i have to run a script for still on Cheat Engine And it Crashes Alot While I have Scripts Running .
