i had problem with crashing (firewatch.exe has stoped working) than i instaleed vcredist provided in game so it worked, played for few hour, pc turned of, and when i turned it back on same problem again, but now cant solve it.. anyone have some idea?

If your game crash and says firewatch.exe stopped working after few seconds into loading screen/logo, update directX worked for me.

Ok, can someone tell me what should I do with this problem, because I did the torrent, got it installed and when I try to start the game from desktop, it’s just opens up my Steam. So, where should I drag/put the files to run the game?

you gotta go back to the installer and select the copy files into install directory checkbox i dunno what it said but there’s only like 2 so
after doing that and waiting for it to install the run button should be clickable

@Dominik i have the exact same issue, i already tried a save file up ahead to avoid the new game startup, but i get the exact same error. All drivers updated, video, sound, direct x and vcredist. Still it sais: “Firewatch has stopped working” at the Firewatch logo loaded around 25%.
I had same problem as mikeli. First I wasn’t able to even star New game. After some stuff done, I suceeded. But today, when I tried to continue or load previous game, it crashes few secs after. It started loading, but it loaded cca. 20%. I’ve tried done everything I did before, but nothing change.Does anybody have any solution?

I uninstaled Microsoft VIsual C++ 2010 if you have like 2 uninstall both and then download and install this Vcredist: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555 Works for me now i can finally get to play this game. If it wont works just type your problem here ill reply if i see your reply.

I had the same problem with the crash,and i saw there were some problems regarding steam,so i opened steam and i launched the game from my computer and it worked,apparently the game has to know you have steam open,other than that i don’t know why it worked now.Say if it worked for you guys.
Hi. I have problem with choose dialogues in the end of day 64 and later. I cant choose answer to Delilah. I tried reinstall game, change controlls and install updates and it still doesnt work.

Well’, I did that first time. And game worked smooth, but next day when I tried to continue it wasn’t working. Precisely, it got back in first state. Just giving me message like firwatch.exe stopped working. I tried to reinstal it, but nothing much happend. I even installed updates, and even then nothing happend good. I would appreciate if you have any other alternative for this. I bet it would help not just me, but a lot of other. Thanks, and cheers! :)

I have a solution!!
Go to the Firewatch shortcut properties,and you’ll see file target
Example: D:\Firewatch\Firewatch.exe and now you need to rewrite this like this D:\Firewatch\Firewatch.exe -force-d3d9 Click apply and there we go!!I hope this helped!

just edit the shortcut of the .exe file as ‘jon4s4’ said and start the game using that shortcut file

I can’t do what Jon4s4 said.. Said “The name ‘C:\Program Files(x86)\Firewatch\Firewatch.exe -force-d3d9’ specified in the target box is not valid. Make sure path and file name are correct. What I can do? Help pls
Alex – Make sure you typed space between Firewatch.exe and -force-d3d9.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Firewatch\Firewatch.exe -force-d3d9 copy and paste this.Hope this helped.

Alex – make sure you have created the shortcut from the exe file. i think the reason it’s happening is because it’s not so. right click on the firewatch.exe then click ‘send to>Desktop (create shortcut)’. and edit it’s location from that shortcut file.

i installed game yesterday and get same problem with ”game has stopped working”. today i download update 1 and 2 and updated the game, then everything worked fine i played till day3 and save n quit. now i tried to continue and again crash ”firewatch has stopped working”. i tried all of this solutions.. no help. i even tried to update agan but get the error ++Hash sum mismatch! Required MD5: F5EFE0FA586F2EE13BD423C010C80F32++

I reinstall the game in a different locatian and now I can add -force-d3d9 and i fix the game. Thanks a lot!

the -force-d3d9 fix with the shortcut fixed the loading issue for me.
The game load fine but no sound in the menu (don’t know if it’s normal tho!?) then, when I create a new game, I see the firewatch logo (the yellow tree) but I can’t go past that. Someone got this problem and know how to fix it? I’ve also tried the -force d3d9 thing too nothing work. Thanks!

I’ve got problem when u cant open the exe, it crash and i have followed everything like the -force-d3d9, installing and uninstall visual c++ and nothing happen.

I cannot access my saved games. if i go to the load menu it is blank. i can exit the game window and remove my save file and the menu becomes accessible again. But I cannot place my save file back in the folder or the save/load options disappear????
Any ideas or solutions. Hate to reply 6 hours of gameplay….
